Baseball Boy

Brock was our boy to play baseball this summer. He played pitching machine and had games each T & Th. Today was the last day. He did a great job. He actually really liked playing catcher (which as a kid --that was one of my favorite positions to play) The ball was pitched 40 mph--it took him a few games to get the hang of hitting the ball but towards the end he got a feel for it and got a few good hits.

Ross Park

A fun thing for us to do each summer is take a trip to Pocatello and go to Ross Park. This was our trip this year. We had so much fun we want to plan a couple more trips there. Logan actually had a lot of fun splashing in the kiddie pool. But when we took a break he fell asleep for awhile.

We went with our friend Melodie and a couple of her kids. Breanna and Hattie spent most of their time in the kiddie pool and also went into the lazy river a couple times.

Brinton, Brock and Jaden were in heaven. They played in the lazy river. They also had a pass for the water slide and according to Brinton they went down it 14 times. I guess that was worth the extra $$ for them to go down the slide

What a great summer day!

Hattie's Birthday Celebration

I can't believe our little bug is already turning 3--before I know it she will be turning 16!!
Making the birthday cake at our house is a fun task. We usually talk about it for a few days or weeks before the birthday...Hattie had many ideas including a dinosaur cake, Indianna Jones cake, and a princess cake. Obviously the princess cake was the most fitting.
After a long day of playing, swimming, and cake making Hattie crashed while watching a video she received for her birthday. Then not to long after that family started arriving for the party. Hattie woke up and enjoyed a moment with her grandpa and was able to listen to a story.
In her birthday crown she had a little help from dad to blow out her candles.
Eating cake and playing with cousins was a highlight of her day. Thanks for everyone coming.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY

So I am a little biased but I think that my kids have the best dad!!! For Father's Day we went to church and then after church we gave dad his new popcorn popper and cards of course. We made some popcorn and then Russell played with the kids. One of their favorite games--Airplane. Then I was able to get a snapshot of Russell with the kids. After we played for awhile we went to visit Grandpa Taylor and then went and had dinner with Grandpa Anderson. It was a good day. I hope all the dad's and grandpa's know how much we love them!!

Camping

Looking for the perfect camp spot

At the first spot--we stopped for maybe five minutes and in that five minutes Breanna fell in the creek. And the good mom I am didn't have any of the older kids bring any extra clothes (we were only staying for one night) So she borrowed some of Hattie's panties and put on her pajamas and had to wait until the next morning to wear her shoes.

This was the second spot Russell found. He thought it would be fun to put everything on the fourwheeler and take it across this little creek. Everyone voted NO

Finally the tent is set up

We went on our first camping trip of the season last weekend. You know how camping goes. It takes 5 hours to get ready to go--then gone for about 1 day---and then there is the 5 hour clean-up and then the loads of laundry for a few more days. It was a lot of work but we did have a great time. We went up to Heise, we took the four wheeler and the motor bikes. Jay and Janae and their family went with us. It was fun. Really it was--even with all of the work. The kids had a blast. But for mom and dad we will be camping at least two nights next time--so the amount of fun is more than the amount of work.

Logan was pretty cute. He like the fresh air and loved playing in the dirt.

Weekend Adventures

The weekend started out getting ready for the last soccer game of the season!! Here is Logan all bundled up and ready to go. We were hoping that he could wear his shorts and that we might need an umbrella to shade us from the sun--instead we bundled up with an undershirt, longsleeve shirt, levis, socks, and a warm blanket. I even wore long pants, a jacket and gloves then bundled up in a blanket.

When we got to the soccer game it was windy and rainy (really sprinkling). Brock played a great game and scored a goal.

After the soccer game we stopped to make a couple purchases. Russell has been shopping for a watch for about 6 weeks-(maybe longer, he lost his other watch at a park in Las Vegas while we were on vacation)--just periodically when we were somewhere he could look for a watch. He found a couple he liked but they were never just right. So we stopped at Ingram's and Russell a found a couple he liked--we narrowed it down to one and he made a purchase. Nice!!

Then we stopped and picked up the XR 80 that Russell and Brinton had looked at on Friday night. Now we need to plan a camping trip.
Saturday afternoon Russell and I dropped the kids off at Grandma & Grandpa Taylor's for a sleep over. Russell's work was having a manager's retreat in West Yellowstone. We went out to dinner, shopped, and then went to the Playmill. We stayed in West and had breakfast this morning then came home. The weather was a little bit worse than the soccer game. I do wish that I had packed my winter coat. Is it really the second weekend in June??And that is the end of the weekend adventures of the Taylor Fam!!

Tree Huggers

This post is so when one of my kids fall out of a tree and break their legs--you all know my point of the story!! So last night was Brinton's last soccer game.

There were a couple good climbing pine trees--every time we couldn't find Brock, Breanna, and Jaden--they were up a tree. I started walking over to talk to them and Russell said to me "Don't make them get out of the tree, it is a fun kid activity to be able to climb a tree--Just let them climb it." So instead of making them get out of the tree I took some pictures.

Hattie Bug's Three Stories

Today Hattie had two cavities filled--she did awesome!! She told everyone she was going to the dentist to get the cavity bugs out. She is all ready with her headphones on --watching Sponge Bob!!

So when Logan was about 2 weeks old--Hattie decided that she wanted to go potty on the toilet. Well....I couldn't handle it. So, we continued buying diapers. (Garfield ones at that) After preschool was over, I decided that she was ready and I was ready so it was time to be potty trained. Going pee was easy--she didn't have any accidents and she was able to keep dry all night from day one. Going poop was another story. So last Friday we went to Toys R Us and bought a pack of 4 princess polly pockets. She was going to earn them by going potty. Well the first 3 days she would poo in her panties and then run up to me and say "Mom, I went poo can I play with my polly pockets??" The answer was always when you poo in the toilet :) Well--Monday she earned Ariel!! Yeah Hattie. And each day since she has earned the other three princesses. I knew that once she figured it out she would have it. The other part of the story is that she wanted to call daddy each day after she earned her doll. This picture is when she called her dad. (Can't you just see the excitement in her eyes!!) The best part of the conversation is when she said, "Dad, I just squeezed the poo out of my tummy into the toilet!!" If all kids were this easy to potty train--I could probably have a few more :)
The last Hattie story for the day is a bedtime story. Every night we read our scriptures and say our prayers and then I usually tuck the girls into bed while Russell goes downstairs to tuck the boys into bed. Well for the last couple of weeks Hattie wants me to hold her hand--(yes Russell thinks this is a bad idea--but I usually can't tell that sweet girl no) So I go into her room and hold her hand for maybe 5 minutes or less and she is sound asleep. So--Monday night it was the ritual that I tucked the girls in and then came out to the computer to check the emails and such when a sweet little voice hollers from her room "Mom, Could you hold my hand" I couldn't resist and I also brought with me the camera so that I could capture the moment.
