We wanted to get a good start on our drive day. We sleep at Grandma & Grandpa Taylor's house. Russell and I had a hard time sleeping. {We probably should have just left after the goodbye's} It is one of those nights when you can not get to sleep, but then finally sleep comes like 1 hour before you are supposed to wake up. Russell and I got up at 6 and got as much as we could packed. We woke the kids up and had some breakfast and packed the rest of the things. As we were almost ready to go--Andrew threw up all over me. So we had to change me and Andrew. Then we got in the car and headed out about 7:30am. We made it to Maverik to gas up the car and Hattie was complaining of a stomach ache. {she threw up a few times in a bucket with a lid}
At this point I was really worried about how the travel would go.
We told everyone to just go back to sleep for awhile.
Our first stop was Malad, everyone out for a bathroom break and a little hike.
Our next stop was Costco in Draper. We got out and walked around Costco, ate a few samples, ordered a pizza, a berry smoothy and had a picnic in the parking lot. It was a well needed break.
We made it to Colorado and couldn't pass the sign without a picture :)
We stopped in Grand Junction to pick up Russell's car and gas everything up and then on the road for one more hour to our new home.
They are pretty good travelers too.
Then we stopped again in Price, Utah to get gas.
It was raining on and off from about Spanish Fork.
We made it to Colorado and couldn't pass the sign without a picture :)
Then some people pulled off right after us, we took their picture.
Then Russell said hurry, there is a rain storm and it is almost here.
Then Russell said hurry, there is a rain storm and it is almost here.
We could see the rain on the interstate coming towards us.
We hopped in the car and were on the road again!!
Luckily there was no more throwing up after the first initial morning jitters.
And the only person to ask "Are we there yet?" was me!!
I had told the kids that if they would be good and not ask how much longer we had and be kind to whomever they were sitting by I would pay them $1 an hour up to 10 hours. The four oldest kids all earned their $10. Logan even earned a couple dollars. I had also made maps for everyone so they could chart where we were and how much farther we had to go.
We made it to Rifle at about 7:30 pm. So it was a 12 hour trip. We ate some of the food we had brought with us and we walked down to the park for a minute to get some wiggles out. Then we made ourselves a bed on the floor and went to sleep quickly. The movers told us they would be here bright and early in the morning.
